Challenges

Russia’s set-aside action in the Hague Court of Appeal (filed February 1, 2024) is pending.

Enforcement

Netherlands: exequatur on December 1, 2023. On July 21, 2025, DTEK attached Gazprom International’s 50% stake in Wintershall Noordzee B.V. and South Stream Transport accounts, arguing that Gazprom is Russia’s alter ego. Requests to lift the attachment were refused (September 5, 2025, and the Hague Court of Appeal on February 24, 2026). The alter-ego case on the merits has been pending since October 2, 2025. United States: the D.D.C. (23-cv-3330) denied Russia’s motion to dismiss on April 17, 2025, and the D.C. Circuit affirmed on February 13, 2026. England, the Czech Republic and Israel: proceedings reported, not verified.

Notes

Whether Gazprom assets can answer for Russia’s debts is contested and pending in the Dutch courts.
